BUTTE- A Butte man was in court today, accused of driving under the influence and striking an elderly man with his vehicle.

Jack Lean, 64, is charged with felony negligent vehicular assault. On Wednesday, he appeared in Butte Silver Bow Justice Court to hear the charge filed against him.

On Sunday, Lean struck the man as he crossed the street near 2100 Farragut Avenue. That man suffered serious injuries and is recovering in the Intensive Care Unit at St. James HealthCare.

Lean was placed into custody at the Butte Silver Bow Detention Center after this afternoon's hearing.

He is being held on $10,000 bond and would be placed on the 24/7 program for required breathalyzer tests if he bonds out of the detention center.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 4. If convicted, Lean could face up to 10 years in prison.
