BUTTE-While some people will have the day off for Martin Luther King Day, others will be spreading Dr. King's teachings to others.

Emily White is an AmeriCorps VISTA member in Butte.
She works through the service learning program at Montana Tech.
On Monday she will participate in Read for Peace, which is a Martin Luther King National Service Day event.

On this day volunteers will head to school classrooms and ready stories about Dr. King's life and teachings.
Then students will draw pictures of their dream of a better world.

"It's important to recognize that service is a powerful and easy way that anyone can contribute on National Service Days and it's an easy way to make a difference in your own community," says White.

White will be reading to Kindergarten through 3rd grade students in Butte on Monday.
