ULM - Dozens of people turned out over the weekend to take part in the annual Montana Atlatl Mammoth Hunt at First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park.
Atlatl throwing served as an ancient hunting technique used all over the world, and experts spent the weekend teaching visitors how hunters got their food thousands of years ago.
The weekend event allowed visitors to learn to use the tomahawk, knife, atlatl, and a bow and arrow.
The atlatl dates back to about 20,000 years ago, when it was a necessary tool for survival, but now it's a sport.
