PHILIPSBURG - Philipsburg is known for their sapphires and also their candy, and now you can add beer to that list.

The Philipsburg Brewing Company opened their doors this past August, in what used to be the old bank building.

Thanks to several years of extensive restoration, the old bank vault has been brought back to life, along with stain glass and other features in the unique space.

There are six beers on tap, which include Coffee Porter, Rye-P-A and Razzu, which is a Raspberry Wheat beer.

Owner Cathy Smith says Philipsburg used to have a brewery nearly 100 years ago, and it's a welcomed return to town.

"We love to see everybody come to town, the tourists are happy, the locals are happy. The people from out of town are happy. Everybody has a good time," Smith told us.

Smith says her partner purchased the building 20 years ago with the hope of someday turning the space into a brewery, and they are thrilled to have made that dream come true.
