BOZEMAN - A 44-year-old Bozeman man says he is not guilty of accusations he broke into a family's garage and raped an 8-year-old girl.
Russell Bullock appeared in Gallatin County District Court Tuesday to answer to the charges of sexual intercourse without consent and aggravated burglary.
He pled not guilty to both crimes. Judge Mike Salvagni continued Bullock's bail at $1 million.
Police arrested Bullock on July 19th. Prosecutors say he broke into the garage of a home on South 19th Avenue and found an 8-year-old girl sleeping in a car. The girl's 12 year old brother heard her calling for help and opened the door to the garage to find a male wearing a T-shirt and nothing else.
When police arrived at the home, Bullock was reportedly found hiding in the tall grass outside the residence.
During an interview with detectives, Bullock said he went to Music on Main and was drinking whiskey. He told police he met four other men who took him to a local bar and later assaulted him and threw him out of the vehicle at an unknown location.
He has prior convictions in Montana for theft and escape. If convicted, Bullock faces up to 100 years in prison.
