BOZEMAN - A large home north of Bozeman went up in flames Friday morning.

Reporter Chet Layman arrived on the scene shortly after 5 a.m. He says a family of four was in the home when the blaze broke out, but everyone got out safely.

The house was located near Story Mill Road at the base of the Bridger Mountains.

Central Valley Fire Department, Bozeman Fire Department and several other departments came together in a mutual aid response to knock down the flames.

It appears the structure was a two-story home. It burned for nearly two hours and is likely a total loss. No other structures were threatened.

Once the hot spots are put out, investigators will begin to determine what sparked the blaze.

We will continue to bring you updates on this fire as they become available.
