Bozeman High School is cancelling a student talent show assembly at the school tomorrow and adding extra police patrols.
In an open letter to parents, posted on the school district website late Thursday afternoon, Superintendent Rob Watson says the steps are being taken because of rumors that a violent act would be committed at the assembly.
Watson says the district and police have investigated the rumors and find no credible evidence to back them up. But, he says the assembly is being postponed because he is convinced that students would not enjoy themselves in the climate created by the rumors.
He goes on to say that police continue to investigate and hope to get to the bottom of the issue as soon as possible.
Watson says school is not being cancelled and that all other school activities will go on as scheduled. But there will be a greater police presence at all school district events Friday.
