A Bozeman High School senior is doing her part to help a young boy battling a rare and aggressive form of cancer.
Leslie Schafer has been friends with 4-year old Caden Shrauder and his family for years. When she found out in March that he had been diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a form of tumor that grows from nerve cells, she said she wanted to do her part.
"I really wanted to do something for him, but I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do."
So she organized "Sled for Caden" at the Gallatin County Regional Park on Friday. According to Leslie, she's raised over $1,200 so far, all of which will be donated to cancer research.
Caden is currently in a hospital in Seattle, receiving chemotherapy treatments, and is scheduled for a bone-marrow transplant on Monday.
If you're interested in donating, an account in the name of 'Sled for Caden' has been set up at First Interstate bank in Bozeman.
