BUTTE - A group of community leaders are working together to bring a Boys and Girls Club facility to Butte.
The club would potentially be located inside the Greeley School, according to Monica Poole-Lilyblad, grant administrator for the Boys and Girls Club project in Butte. The decision to give the group ownership of the building will be decided at the next Public School Board Meeting, Monday Oct. 15.
During the last Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioner meeting the group proposed they receive $20,000 of the Mill Levy Grant to put towards materials needed to repair the Greeley School.
The building is badly water damaged, according to Lilyblad. If the Boys and Girls Club was placed inside the building they would utilize the east and south classrooms. Lilyblad hopes that the rest of the necessary money can be raised through donations and fundraising.
"I think that there's a need for a Boys and Girls Club," Lilyblad said. "There's a need for adults to tell children you know what you don't have to live like this."
