SEATTLE - A baby girl whose parents are from Belgrade is recovering in a Seattle hospital tonight after undergoing possible life-saving surgery.

Doctors discovered Poppy Dahl had a rare heart defect called Hypoplasticleft heart syndrome in utero.

Her parents, Brad and Christie, have been in Seattle since the beginning of February, awaiting Poppy's arrival. She was born March 8, weighing 6 pounds 10 ounces. Doctors say that without today's surgery, called Norwood surgery, she would not have survived.

Today surgeons worked to fix Poppy's heart.

Brad has been updating his "Pray for Poppy" blog and Facebook page throughout the day.

Poppy was taken off bypass a few hours ago, which means the surgery is over and now her parents are waiting to get an update from the doctors.
