HELENA - Montanans who have lost their homes to foreclosure will soon be getting a check in the mail.
Montana Attorney General Tim Fox announced the state has settled with Ally, Bank of America, Citi, J.P. Morgan Chase, and Wells Fargo. This settlement comes after these mortgage giants were found to have used illegal loan servicing practices.
More than 1700 families will get a check in the mail from one of these companies. In total Montana will receive $2.5 million through the settlement with each family receiving just fewer than $1500.00.
