Anaconda and Butte law enforcement are working together to search the Butte-Silver Bow Landfill for an Anaconda woman who has been missing since late December.
Early Tuesday morning authorities searched the landfill for 41-year-old Tammy Salle, according to Anaconda Police Chief Tim Barkell. Barkell asked Butte Law Enforcement to help his officers search. About 20 officers are on the scene, six officers are from Butte.
Anaconda waste is dumped in a specific section of the landfill, according to Barkell. They have closed off the back left corner of the landfill so no more waste is dumped there. The section of the landfill they are searching is the size of two football fields.
The section is also about eight layers deep. The search will continue tomorrow and will likely go on throughout the week.
Barkell confirmed that the evidence sent to the Montana Crime lab in this case tested positive for Tammy Salle's blood.
