At least 1 hurt in Highway 83 wreck near Swan Lake

SWAN LAKE - A multiple car accident on Highway 83 just a few miles north of the town of Swan Lake closed the highway for several hours Wednesday night.

The highway closure, which was reported at 9:50 p.m., blocked both lanes of traffic until just before 1 a.m. Thursday.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports there were no life threatening injuries in the accident, although at least one person had to be transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

It took cleanup crews just under three hours to clear vehicles from the roadway, before re-opening Highway 83 to general traffic.

The accident remains under investigation, but neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors.
