BOZEMAN - Employees with American Medical Response in Gallatin County plan to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas helping individuals in assisted living facilities see their loved ones.

For a second year, AMR is providing free transportation to wheelchair-bound people who want to go "Home for the Holidays."

"We want to bring families together during the holidays," said Kevin Lauer, supervisor for AMR.

Lauer said last year only one person used the service and he's hoping more families will apply this year.

"Home for the Holidays" is being offered on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It allows patients to take a free wheelchair or stretcher service from their residing facility to their family home and spend a few hours with their loved ones.

Due to limited resources, AMR is limiting the service to six people on each holiday.

To get an application or more information, call AMR at 586-0037. Transport requests can be faxed 586-0536.

The deadline to apply for Thanksgiving is Saturday, November 17. The deadline to use the service for Christmas is Monday, December 3.
