The Butte-Silver Bow area will remain in an air quality alert stage until 7a.m. Thursday, according to Paul Riley, director of environmental monitoring with the Butte-Silver Bow Health Department.
Wednesday there were not enough upper level winds to lift the particulate out of the valley, Riley said. There were some lower air pollution readings this afternoon, but it wasn't enough to lift the air quality alert.
The health department recommends limiting outdoor activity during this time. People should refrain from using wood burning stoves unless it is approved by the Environmental Protection Agency.
