CODY, WYOMING - A Montana man has pleaded not guilty to three charges in connection with the abduction and assault of a Cody, Wyoming girl.

Jesse Speer, 39, appeared in a Cody courtroom to face charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault and illegal use of a firearm. He is being held in the Park County Detention Facility on a $2 million cash bond.

In November, Speer waved his right to a hearing to determine if there was enough evidence in the case to proceed.

Speer was arrested in Belgrade nearly a week after the Oct. 8 abduction and assault of the 11-year-old girl in Cody. He was stopped by authorities while driving his white Toyota 4-Runner in Belgrade on Oct. 13.

Surveillance cameras and witnesses led authorities to Speer who was a photographer in the Bozeman area and who most recently lived in Manhattan.
