Workers at the Great Falls Teachers Credit Union used a casual approach to celebrate "Live United Day" and raise funds for United Way of Cascade County on Friday.
The credit union staff is stepping up to help the charity meet its goal of raising $955,000 this year. The 30 employees hope to raise $10,000 by the middle of October, and say they have several creative ways to do it.
TCU Marketing Directo Julie McCamley said, "We pay $3 to be able to dress casual and wear our jeans and our United Way tee-shirts. On Tuesdays, we're going to be having Italian soda days and the staff will pay $3 for each one that they purchase. Those donations will also go toward United Way."
McCamley said that they welcome community participation, and encouraged area residents to stop by for an Italian soda on Tuesdays between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m, or at their homemade bake sale on October 8th.
And the credit union wasn't the only business having fun with the United Way fundraiser today: at Stockman Bank, customers and employees raised more than $600 today, with the "winner" granted the honor of throwing a pie in the face of bank president Randy Williams.
