MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) - The Big Sky Conference has named Montana guard Anthony Johnson as its men's basketball player of the week for the second consecutive week and the fourth time this season. The 6-foot-3 senior from Tacoma, Wash., averaged 24 points, 3.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game, leading the Grizzlies to home conference victories over first-place Weber State and Idaho State.
WHITEFISH, Mont. (AP) - Forward Kellen Hasquet of Montana Tech has been named the Frontier Conference's basketball player of the week. The 6-foot-7 junior from Missoula led Montana Tech to two wins last weekend over Rocky Mountain and Carroll. He averaged 20.5 points and five rebounds per game.
WHITEFISH, Mont. (AP) - Sophomore Alysha Green of Carroll College has been named the Frontier Conference's women's basketball player of the week. The 5-foot-7 guard from Spokane, Wash., led Carroll to two road wins over the weekend against Montana Western and Montana Tech. She hit 50 percent of her field goals and 58 percent of her 3-point field goals.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - The New York Giants have have been awarded offensive tackle Herb Taylor off waivers from Denver. Taylor was originally a sixth-round draft choice by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2007. In two seasons with the Chiefs, Taylor played in 18 games with one start. He was waived by the Broncos on Dec. 19 before being re-signed on Dec. 29 and waived again on Jan. 2.
