A man charged with negligent vehicular homicide heard his charge in a Great Falls court today.

Robert Allen Shepherd was charged in connection with the death of Hill County resident Joel Bell in September.

Authorities say that Shepherd and Bell were driving north of Havre when the incident occurred; they allege that Shepherd was driving under the influence and speeding, leading to the one-vehicle rollover crash that killed Bell.

Charges were filed on November 10th and he was arrested on a warrant in Great Falls last night at 220 13th Street North.

Shepherd's bond is set at $50,000.

The Hill County Attorney's Office says they expect law enforcement will transport Shepherd to its county jail sometime tonight.
