It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without all the trimmings and some Scouts at Malmstrom Air Force Base are making sure everyone has a full plate this year.
“I think it's really fun helping the mission for the less fortunate” said scout Shelby Kanski who is joining her fellow Boy, Girl and Cub scouts to collect their favorite thanksgiving food for the great falls mission by Thanksgiving.
Collection day at Malmstrom Air Force Base started out a little slow on Saturday, but Rylee Broach is hoping people will bring in a variety of food before Thanksgiving.
While the scouts are enjoying collecting the food, Troop leaders, including John Ross, know they're learning a valuable lesson. "I think it's taught them the importance of giving back to the community. This will actually help them appreciate what they have."
Rylee and Shelby are having fun collecting the food, they also realize the impact they're making on their community.
“I want the people at the rescue mission to have a happy Thanksgiving” said Rylee. While Shelby added that, “I like helping other people and I think it's a good deed to do.”
The scouts hope to collect 2,000 of food by next weekend and drop off points are located throughout Malmstrom Air Force Base, as well as at the Great Falls Rescue Mission.
