High school seniors often spend a great deal of time planning for their own future after graduation, but in Big Sandy, we found one senior who wants to leave behind tools to further the success of future students.
Big Sandy senior Kathleen Maxwell applied for a "One Class At A Time" $250 grant, saying that additional microscopes are a must for her school's advanced biology class to allow for more individualized learning.
Maxwell was happy about being to purchase new equipment, and noted, ""We'll be able to do a little more research, it's just a lot easier; the microscopes we have aren't really that great."
Chris Prange, the biology teacher, said, "So they can explore and kinda have that 'ah-ha' moment for themselves instead of...relying on different students and they go 'Oh yeah, I see it', and they really don't. So any little bit of money at a school like ours or any school in this day and age helps to go a long ways."
KRTV and First Interstate Bank will give away another grant for $250 every Monday here on Montana's News Station.
