The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a high wind warning until 5:00 p.m. this afternoon for many communities along the Rocky Mountain Front and North Central Montana.
The communities of Browning, Cut Bank, and Choteau are included in this high wind warning, and can expect sustained winds of between 30-45 miles per hour, with gusts up to 70 miles per hour.
In addition, strong west winds of up to 45 miles per hour, with gusts up to 65 miles per hour, will continue through the afternoon in the Stanford and Lewistown areas. Areas of blowing dust will reduce visibilities at times.
Gusting winds of over 60 mph were recorded at noon today near Denton and Geyser, and will continue to affect locations along Highway 200 from Raynesford to Grass Range. Winds are expected to diminish this evening.
