Property tax notices will be hitting mailboxes in Cascade County soon, and now there's a new option for making your payments.
For the first time, the Cascade County Treasurer's Office is offering a link on their website to enable residents to pay their property taxes online.
The service is scheduled to be available online beginning November (click here to visit the site).
An estimated 41,000 statements are being sent out, totaling roughtly $78.4 million dollars this year alone - a few million more than last year.
Cascade County Treasurer Jess Anderson hopes the site decreases the amount of traffic in the downtown office.
Anderson said, "You're going to see some savings because its going to be an automatic payment coming in; also people can pay their taxes at six in the morning or at midnight...or when they forget and it's the 30th (of the month), they can click and they can go ahead and make the payment."
In accordance with Montana Code, there's a 3% convenience fee that to cover banking fees.
And of course, residents will still have the option of going to the Treasurer's Office or paying at the drop box outside the office.
