The Director of Montana's Department of Commerce, Anthony Preite, is on a two-day tour from Fort Benton to Malta, and along the way, he'll be delivering millions of dollars in stimulus funds.
We caught up with Preite as he presented Box Elder school with money from the Montana Reinvestment Act.
Box Elder is one of five schools and one of 10 organizations receiving a check through the Department of Commerce over the next couple days.
Director Preite says he felt it was important to deliver the checks face to face: "We wanted to see how the economy was doing here. Have a chance to talk to people. What their concerns were. What's going well for them. Where we could do a better job of partnering and making our resources that we have available to them."
Preite will present checks totaling $2.6 million dollars; nearly $1.5 million of that comes from the Montana Reinvestment Act.
Other funds are from the Tourism Infrastructure Investment Program, the Treasure State Endowment Program, and the Community Development Block Grants.
