The Montana Stockgrowers Association is making some efforts to forge a better relationship with Governor Schweitzer.

The group's president delivered an invitation to the Governor on Thursday morning, asking him to be the keynote speaker at an upcoming convention.

Schweitzer says he'll have to check his schedule before committing.

Group President Tom Hougen says it's no secret that the stockgrowers and its staff have had some issues. But, he made it clear in a meeting with the Governor that he wants to move forward.

The Melstone rancher says he felt it was important to deliver the message to the governor personally, leader to leader.
