Wind energy project coming to Montana

Posted:

Updated:

Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer dedicated the second phase of the largest wind energy project in the state on Wednesday.

He joined NaturEner company officials at the Glacier Wind Farm in the hills between Cut Bank and Shelby, saying that "This wind farm is one of the reasons Montana is on the map as a leader in wind energy development, and this is a significant contribution of clean and green, domestic energy to our region."

NaturEner is already planning another large wind farm, a deal cemented during the Governor's trip to Spain in September. The Rim Rock project is about 25 miles north of the Glacier project, and represents an $800 million investment.

Officials say Glacier created 350-plus construction jobs and that the Rim Rock project will create more than 500 construction jobs.
