Winter weather advisory for North-Central Montana
Northern Rocky Mountain Front, Eastern Glacier, Cascade, Central and Southern Lewis & Clark, Southern Rocky Mountain Front, Judith Basin, Fergus, Broadwater, and Meagher counties, including the cities of Browning, Cut Bank, Choteau, and White Sulphur Springs
The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow which is in effect from midnight tonight to 6:00 am Sunday.
Measurable snowfall will begin along the Rocky Mountain Front later this evening and spread into the mountains of central Montana after midnight. Snow will persist in these areas through the day on Saturday and linger into Saturday night.
Snowfall amounts of 4 to 9 inches are expected above 5000 feet along the Rocky Mountain Front, with 1 to 3 inches possible below 5000 feet and into Eastern Glacier County.
Farther south, elevations above 5000 feet in the mountains of central Montana will receive 3 to 7 inches of snowfall, but locations below 5000 feet will receive little if any snowfall that will melt as it falls or melt as it hits the warm ground.
Snowfall will mostly impact those traveling through mountain passes as well as those participating in outdoor recreational activities.
Precautionary/preparedness actions: a winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
